His idea of mixing the original and the new things that helps understanding the past and the present was very interesting to me. It means that people are the additional edition of their ancestors.

I find it very interesting when he spoke on the on balance between the public and private cultures. Its funny how people want to be apart of the openly social and public sects, yet they may not be as comfortable in putting all of their information out there for the web so they prefer to use more private means. In my personal opinion, once your on the web you have accepted exposure and will not be able to protect yourself anymore.

  3. I’ve never really thought much about the “backlash” of participatory culture (for example, hurtful comments left on YouTube videos). But it makes sense that backlash behavior is simply a manifestation of the tension that already exists between cultures in the real world. The web’s participatory culture makes it easier for different groups to come into contact with each other. Saying our participatory culture is good or bad because of the existence of backlash doesn’t accurately capture the essence of Web 2.0 – like the Interstate highways of yore, it brings people together, then what people do from there is up to them.

I agree that with anything you post wether it is on youtube or any other form of social media site. You always should be aware that there should be acklash to what you are posting. I also agree with Jessica that people are still being cautious about what they are posting on the web because once it on the web everyone is able to see it.
