  1. I listened to the Jan 23rd episode and was impressed by Obama’s swift push for transparency using technology. I think it’s a noble goal to make our government’s actions more clear and visible to its people. After all, a government elected by its people should (in an ideal world) have little to hide from its people.

There will be hurdles that slow Obama’s push to transparency. For example, the policy that requires webpages to be accessible to the disabled (which among other things demands closed-captions on video uploads), will make it almost impossible to have “real time” transparency in terms of video uploads. However, this is a minor issue that I believe can be almost completely fixed with the proper people and technology. (The majority of Internet uploads by the government will likely be text documents).

I am beyond excited that Obama has already started working toward more accountable and observable politics. I hope that he lays a foundation of trust between Americans and our government, and that future presidents will all be held to the same standard of visibility by their citizens.
